Located at the intersection of University and Western Avenues, the former Old Home Foods property occupies an important piece of real estate in St. Paul along the new light rail transit Green Line. Financial and technical support from Twin Cities LISC, predevelopment loan from Greater Minnesota Housing Corporation, and the initial investment by the Twin Cities Community Land Bank for site acquisition demonstrated that these organizations were committed to the project’s vision and support for the joint venture between a nonprofit organization – Aurora/St. Anthony Neighborhood Development Corporation (ASANDC) – and a private developer – Sand Companies – as a model for equitable TOD that preserves a historic structure and adds new affordable multifamily housing units, commercial space and community space on a 1.6 acre site.

To learn how the unique nonprofit-private partnership between ASANDC and Sand Companies, Inc. will transform the long-vacant blighted landmark into a vibrant community asset that would not have been a reality without critical predevelopment funding and strong neighborhood support click here.
