The Minnesota Foreclosure Partners Council was convened in January 2007. The goal of the program is to facilitate a rapid, coordinated response to the mortgage foreclosure crisis affecting Minnesota. In order to take action the Minnesota Foreclosure Partners Council, is working with many key private, non-profit, and public partners.

The work of the Council is focused in six areas:

  • Data collection
  • Homeowner and tenant counseling
  • Targeted outreach
  • Product development
  • Neighborhood and community recovery
  • Legal and legislative solutions

Partners work together to confront the consequences of predatory and inappropriate lending. The efforts are not only focused on specific situations but also on the broader issue of preserving and improving communities.

The Minnesota Foreclosure Partners Council is a model initiative and, in 2008, was recognized with a Partners in Affordable Housing: Outstanding Collaboration Award. The Council and its efforts are more fully described inThe Coordinated Plan to Address Foreclosures in Minnesota [PDF].
