Within the Minneapolis Twin Cities seven county region, new resources are available to help public entities purchase and hold available land and properties to meet longer term community housing goals. A good example of this is Land Bank Twin Cities, Inc. (Land Bank), a nonprofit organization that captures real estate opportunities to benefit people of low to moderate incomes, prioritizing people of color and other populations facing barriers. The Land Bank partners with developers, social service providers and municipalities to purchase and hold properties that will be developed to meet a community’s housing and economic development goals. The Land Bank is designed to respond quickly and effectively to the challenges and opportunities of the real estate market through its diversity of services which include, acquiring, financing, land banking properties alongside property management and brokerage services.
